Lee Muncy Obituary

Slidell ~ On January 22, 2019 in the early morning hours Lee Edward Muncy, 74, peacefully went home surrounded by his family.

Funeral is 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019, at New Hope Fellowship Church in Decatur with burial in Slidell Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur.

Jack Sandford will officiate. Pallbearers include Jimmy Muncy, Ace Lloyd, Rene Pruett, Danny Pruett, Lance Chirstie, and Danny Schertz. Honorary pallbearers are H.R. Pruett, Eddie Ray Griffeth, Rex Maxwell, Mitt Lloyd, and Bryon McNair.

Lee was born on June 9, 1944, at his grandmother’s home in Boliver, Texas to Clarence and Annabelle (Voss) Muncy. He was a lifelong resident of Slidell and graduate of Slidell High School Class of 1962.  Lee married Penelope (Penny) Brown on July 27, 1974, in the First Baptist Church in Greenwood. He owned a dairy farm, was a welder, mechanic and retired from Peterbilt Motor Company after 30 years. He was a member of the Slidell Baptist Church. Lee loved his family, working on John Deere Tractors and the home place which has been in his family for over 100 years

He was preceded in death by his parents; a baby daughter, Carrie Rebekah Muncy and his in-laws Sid and Cora Brown.

He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Penny Muncy of Slidell; his daughter, Corrie Lloyd and husband Mitt of Slidell; his son, Jimmy Muncy of Slidell; his grandson, Ace and wife Brandy of Fort Worth; his granddaughter, Megan Richards of Denton; his sister, Naomi Gardner and husband Al of Grand Saline; his nieces Melynn Gardner and Marion Lee Gardner of Grand Saline; his nephew, Brad and wife Shannon Gardner of Van; his brother, John Brown and wife Dorothy of Humble; numerous cousins, and a host of friends.

He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
